“Fonts” with Ulrike Rausch and Oliver Schöndorfer

For this show, Ulrike Rausch and Oliver Schöndorfer are my guests. Ulrike's work with fonts is simply stunning. If I only take the latest release of her colorfont LiebeHeide and see what you are able to do with this font … lovely. Oliver recently started his own YouTube channel, which he named Pimp my Type and two years ago he gave a fantastic talk about variable Web typography. In short: I am very much looking forward to this show and welcoming you!

Unlock the Fun!

Creating outstanding typographic designs is not just about choosing the right font. It’s about using all the super powers that font technology offers you today.

In her talk, Ulrike will reveal some playful type experiments that show evidence: type is not just for reading but it’s fun and entertaining, too.

You will learn how to tap the full potential of a font, which will enable you to create stunning designs, leaving your clients with a smile.

About Ulrike Rausch

Ulrike Rausch

Her growing portfolio of quality fonts has been used in publications, advertisements, and websites all around the world. She also creates custom typefaces for clients.

When Ulrike is not busy with her next font release, she enjoys teaching at art schools and giving type design workshops in her studio.

Last year she teamed up with letterer and writer Chris Campe and wrote the book “Making Fonts!”, a comprehensive guide to type design & font production.

Stop Using Open Sans – Why Your Font Choice Matters

Open Sans, Open Sans, Open Sans – it’s everywhere! It’s the second most popular web font, it’s the new Arial. However, there is nothing wrong about Open Sans specifically, it’s just overused. Picking a typeface is an opportunity for your web site, app or digital product to show personality, be memorable and stand out among its competition. And if you’re using Open Sans you’re missing out on all that good stuff.

In this talk you’ll learn why your font choice matters, where to find good alternatives and what to consider when picking a font for you digital product. So you won’t have to use Open Sans again (or Roboto, or Lato, or PT Sans, …).
