⇾ Tom Arnold aka Webrocker about the Düsseldorf edition
It’s genuinely lovely that Tom Arnold (Webrocker) is always part of beyond tellerrand. If not in person, then online and in his thoughts.
Tom has published a German-language “running diary” of his trip to Beyond Tellerrand in Düsseldorf 2026, which this year marked its 15th anniversary. He reflects on having attended nearly every edition since the first back in 2011 and on what keeps drawing him back: friends made over the years, good conversations, and the chance to step out of the daily grind and see brilliant work from the best in the field.
The post runs day by day, covering his journey, the Warm-Up event and the two conference days. Highlights include Niels Leenheer running CSS animations on an 80s oscilloscope, André Michelle’s browser-based open-source audio workstation (#opendaw), Bramus Van Damme’s view transitions talk and Lauren Celenza’s closing piece on living through an AI takeover without losing your soul, with AI the elephant in the room throughout.
He praises curating the lineup like a well-made mixtape and signs off in the familiar post-conference glow of inspiration meeting everyday reality: “Challenge Accepted” ;)
