Berlin Moments Captured by Florian Ziegler

Florian Ziegler is part of the beyond tellerrand core team for many years now. Each time I am amazed by his ability to not been seen or recognised while he sometimes points your camera right into your face. Sometimes he is sneaky and catches you from a wild angle, somewhere further away. Then again he must stand right next to you, when pressing the camera button.

A shot from backstage. You see Tobi Lessnow talking to Marc Thiele behind the curtains, backstage at beyond tellerrand. Tobi is bending down to a sitting Marc, talking to him, while Marc listens carefully.
One of the sneaky backstage shots that take you on a journey of what happens behind the scenes also. Here: Tobi chatting to Marc.

You might ask me “Marc, why only black and white? Colour is much more vibrant and shows the atmosphere much nicer and in a less moody way.” – well, that is partly true and we usually also have someone also shooting some beautiful colour photos. And yes, those shots are great and needed. But what I like at Florian’s photos is, that those are different. For me they are sometimes a little more like a quick paintings. Those, in addition with the colour photos from Martin, Christian, Celine or any other lovely person who ever came and shot colour photos, create a lovely, complete story and impression of an event.

A photo from backstage. Adam is about to go on stage and Marc and him are standing next to each other, waiting for the moment, when Adam is up. Both are looking to the lower left, where a monitor is standing on which you can see what’s next.
Adam and Marc waiting to get on stage.

What I mean is, that those “behind the scenes and backstage shots” fill the gaps of what you miss, when never been backstage on such an event. They take you on a journey.

A photo taken through a half-open door. It shows a woman, Ana Rodrigues, looking at her laptop and presumably preparing her presentation.
If Ana knows that this photo was taken, while she was preparing her talk to get on stage a few minutes later?

I am super happy to always have Florian being part of the show and just to put some pressure on me (and him): we are working on something for a while, but never really get our a**es up to get it really done. Maybe Hopefully we will for Düsseldorf 2025 … ;)
