Whether for creating a logo for your business or designing a tattoo with the name of your favourite rock band, this practical workshop will show you the principles behind letter forms and techniques to shape them.

Letterer and Designer Martina Flor believes that drawing letter shapes is something everyone can learn and is willing to unveil all secrets behind The Art of Lettering.

What You'll Learn In This Workshop:

Learn the basics of letter design and effective techniques to think, sketch and create a lettering piece from scratch. Martina will also share insights on her professional work, including tips to improve your work process.

You’ll walk away from this 100% hands-on workshop with a sharper eye when working with typography and essential and practical tools to draw lettering and for the continuation of your own practice. After this class you’ll see typography in a completely different way.

What Will Be Covered:

  • concept and putting your ideas down on paper
  • training your “typographic eye”
  • sketching techniques
  • refining your sketch
  • improving your workflow

Requirements

You don’t need to have previous experience to join this workshop. It is suitable for beginners as well as for those with a background in letter design who want to go a step forward into the art of lettering and expand their set of creative skills.

You just need to bring your favourite pencil, the rest of materials will be provided.

Who is your teacher?

Martina Flor combines her talents as both a designer and an illustrator in the drawing of letters. She grew up in Buenos Aires and studied in Spain and the Netherlands. Based now in Berlin, she runs her studio in Lettering and Custom Typography working for clients all over the world. She is also the founder of Letter Collections, co-founder of the project Lettering vs Calligraphy and the creator of the series of workshops Good Type. Her work has been featured in many publications and she teaches and lectures extensively.
