Speaker Introduction – Paula Zuccotti

A portrait of Paula Zuccotti in front of brick wall

Speaker Introduction: People often ask me “How do you find your speakers?” Well, I do a lot of research, attend other events and meet people with great topics or receive recommendations. But also a big amount of emails arrives in my inbox, asking me how someone could apply to speak. A lot of those are not of interest as it is an speaker agency, trying to “sell” me someone to speak or a company who only want to get their product on stage. But this example here shows, that sometimes there is an email dropping in from someone nice with an interesting topic.

Paula Zuccotti has written me to introduce herself and her work to me and directly got me interested. Her work for on “Future Archeology” a documentary feature film that is based on her book “Every Thing We Touch” sounded super interesting. She is asking if the objects we touch and use can tell the story of our lives. She asks:

  • What’s the first thing we touch when we wake up?
  • How do our favourite things reveal our hopes and fears?
  • Can objects tell the story of our lives?

And it is impressive to see how much it actually can say about us, what we touch and use and I am looking forward to her talk at #btconf in Düsseldorf.

Paula Zuccotti is a London-based Argentine ethnographer, trends forecaster, designer and visual artist.
