The 7 Traits of an Emotionally Fit Leader

The world is beginning to understand that stress, burnout, anxiety – and, let’s face it, the universal pains of adulting – can drastically affect a company’s bottom line. To be successful today, business leaders and employees need to be emotionally and physically healthy. There are plenty of apps and products that claim to help achieve this, but an effective focus on mental and emotional health must be built from the inside out. In this interactive talk, renowned psychologist Dr. Emily Anhalt explores the importance of supporting yourself and your team by developing emotional fitness and gives practical, concrete tips for building a true culture of wellness.

Dizzy Users Close Browsers: Balancing Creativity and Accessibility

“Accessibility is the death of creativity”
“You can’t be creative and accessible”
“This site may not be accessible or useful, but it’s because it’s creative!”

How many times have you heard the above, or a combination thereof? On the modern web, there is a tendency to identify “creativity” with “objects that move very fast on the screen without any apparent reason”. If creativity didn’t exist without animation, we might as well set fire to most of the world’s museums.

There is also a tendency to identify “accessible” with “ugly” and “sacrificing imagination”. Piccia Neri will debunk these myths in her talk, showing how your website can be visible, beautiful, creative, accessible – and at the same time, profitable.

No One Else Can Walk Your Path

Ten years ago Josh took the stage at beyond tellerrand and took a big leap of faith, singing his entire talk to an improvised tune. That spontaneous act kicked off a decade of leaps into the unknown: deciding to leave Twitter, starting an incubator, spinning out two companies, becoming the CEO of a hyper-growth startup, selling the company, exploring the world of Venture Capital and Angel investing. All of this while raising a family and dealing with health illnesses, chronic stress, and starting therapy to work through trauma from his past. Throughout his journey, Josh has discovered some keys to living an authentic and present life, how to relate to identity, power, and fear, and the courage to walk your own path.

Hard Work, Relentless Dreams & Wifi Version 2.0

Rob is going to tell 3 stories. The first is how he got here – How did he end up doing this and why does he draw on things? It’s a peculiar story that he wouldn’t believe unless it had happened to him. After unexpected redundancy from his dream job Rob felt he was at a junction – retrain and leave behind a 20+ year design career or go it alone, not turn anything down, try new things and see what happens. That approach left him working in a high security prison and spending his spare time drawing on coffee cups.

The second story is how once finally some of his dreams came true he found myself back at square one – he had no studio, no office and “home” was living on a camp bed in his Sisters front room next to his Son and how this has shaped him, his work and his outlook.

The third story is how a shed and a global pandemic took him back to his youth and changed everything again …

It’s basically a story of relentlessly pursuing dreams when at times the odds feel so stacked against you and how sometimes that goes right, often it goes wrong but it’s what you learn and take forward that matters …
